MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
NOTE: this mailing includes annual membership renewal cards for Regular members (over 17 years of age) for the 2018-2019 year. A renewal postcard will be mailed separately for Junior and Regular (17 years of age) members. Tear off and keep your new card; but please promptly return the information portion of the card along with check for $20.00 (regular) or $5.00 (junior). Many times renewing members forget to return the Informational Card portion and/or check or misplace their card. This causes processing headaches later. New members who joined since January, 2018, already have the new yellow 2019 card and are paid in full (no renewal card enclosed). Renewal rules follow: Any member who has not paid by August 31, 2018 will be assessed a $5.00 late fee. Unpaid members will be removed from the roles and will need to rejoin if dues payment is not received by December 31, 2018. Please notify us if you change your mailing address.

TRAPSHOOTING NEWS
Perry finished in seventh place in the 2017-2018 Berks Inter-valley Trapshooting League with the traveling trophy remaining with first place Leesport Gun Club. The Monday evening trap league between Perry and Lenhartsville will start May 7th at Lenhartsville. This is a great league for the inexperienced and novice shooter to get started or practice improvement skills. Perry also holds 50 target public shoots the first Sunday of each month. Starting in May, except not for league shoots, we are adding 4 individual boxes of shells to be given away each month by drawing and every time the shooter enters a score their name will be placed into a drawing for three $50 gift cards at the end of the shoot year.
BERKS FRIENDS OF NRA
The annual Berks Friends of NRA banquet will be held on Friday evening, May 18th. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Nominations for officers for the 2018-2019 term will be accepted at the May regular meeting and voted upon at the June regular meeting. We encourage our members to volunteer for officer and trustee positions.
14th Annual Women On Target®
Perry, along with the NRA Women-On-Target® program and NRA Foundation Inc. are again proud to sponsor this year 2 non-competitive, instructional clinics to mentor women (16 or more years of age) in recreational shooting and hunting sports. The clinics will be held on Saturdays, June 23rd and September 15th. The range will be closed while these clinics are in session. To pre-register simply mail a $40 check along with student’s name, address and phone number to the club or print off and complete the pre-registration form on our web site found under the NRA tab. Please contact Bob Sproesser at 610-756-4328 with any questions. Previous students are welcome to attend. We have again received partial funding from the NRA Foundation and can keep the cost low at $40/student.
Shotgun Patterning
There is a patterning stand for shotguns located between trap-house #2 and #3. Please refrain from firing shotgun shot shells at the pistol /rifle range yardages. Shot shell pellets at such short distances quickly deteriorate the target mats requiring replacements and more frequent maintenance. Limit shotgun use at the range for sighting in slug barrels only.
Big Game Contests
We had no entries for the biggest bear contest. We awarded $50 to four biggest deer rack contest winners, all harvested in Berks County. We had a tie and awarded two in archery, Darryl Balthaser entered a 9 point buck and Tim Strunk entered a 10 point-er. Both had a point total of 31-3/8. Megan DeAngelo won the Junior category with an 8 pointer with a point total of 25-1/4. The Rifle winner was Rodney Rothermel with a 7 pointer with a point total of 27. There were four other archery entries and one other rifle entry and no other entries in the Junior category. The 2017-2018 longest turkey beard contest ends 6/26/18. Bring your harvests to the club for measurement. The next bear and deer contests end at 8:00 p.m. on 1/29/2019 and 2/26/2019 respectively.
Special BFNRA and RMEF Recognition Raffle
Perry will receive several firearms for our support of the 2018 Berks Friends of the NRA . We are offering those guns along with nine other unique guns in a special raffle ticket. Four tickets are enclosed. They cost $5.00 each, $20 total for all four. Sell 10 of the tickets and receive a free ticket for yourself. The drawing will be held at our club Trap shoot on Sunday, August 5th. Ticket holders do NOT have to be present to win. We will add additional gun or cash prizes if ticket sales are brisk. Last year we held a similar raffle and we awarded a total of 18 guns and 9 cash awards due to excellent sales results.
NRA Certified Training
Perry offers NRA certified courses in rifle, pistol and shotgun, Refuse-To-Be-A-Victim, etc. to individuals, families and groups on an as-needed basis. Check the NRA website for courses already scheduled or to arrange for a specific course please contact Bob Sproesser at 610-756-4328 to set up a schedule.
Large Range Closed
Three community events are currently scheduled that require the large range to be closed for a portion of the following dates: (1) Saturday, April 28th for Cabela’s Ladies day at the Range, (2) Saturday, June 23rd for a Women-On-Target clinic and (3) Saturday, Sept. 15th for a Women-On-Target clinic.
NRA Membership
Perry is a registered recruiter for the NRA. The Association receives a recruiter fee if you join or renew your current membership with the NRA through our club. Log on to our web site or stop by the club for further details. This is a great time to join or renew given the negative liberal news media reports toward the NRA.
