HUNTER EDUCATION
Perry taught our Hunter Ed. course this year on Friday evening and Saturday morning, June 13th and 14th. Congratulations to the 9 students who successfully graduated.
FISHING RODEO
Perry co-sponsored with Lenhartsville Fish & Game a youth trout fishing rodeo at their pond on Saturday, May 10th. The rodeo was open to members of both clubs, their children and grand children at the lower pond at Lenhartsville.
BOARD SHOOTS
The remaining 2025 Board shoots are on September 14th, October 12th, November 9th and Dec.14th. Sign-up begins at 8:30 a.m. and the shoots start at 9:00 a.m. You are competing for very nice meat trays from Chrisman’s in Oley. Splatter boards and strip tickets for meat trays are also sold during those events. For every entry sign-up your name is also entered in a special drawing after the December shoot for a gift card.
TRAPSHOOTING
Perry is currently in 6th place in the 2025 Berks County Amateur Trap shooting league. Perry is currently leading Lenhartsville in the Monday evening league. That league continues through the end of September; and you can still join. Our summer monthly trap shoots will be held on Saturdays, July 5th, August 2nd and September 6th.
BIG GAME CONTESTS
Marvin Burkert Jr. won the 2024-2025 longest turkey beard contest with an entry of 10-3/8 inches taken in Pike County. There were a total of 4 entries.
STOP SHOOTING AFTER SUNSET
We have received numerous complaints from neighbors and the township supervisors about shooters firing after sunset. We will be installing video cameras to monitor activity on the grounds more closely. Your membership will be revoked if you participate in shooting after hours and we will pursue legal action against trespassers.
Summer Gun Raffle Ticket
Perry has an upcoming summer gun raffle ticket with drawing on August 2nd. This is a progressive ticket with 8 firearms to start. More guns and/or cash prizes will be added based on brisk ticket sales. Last year we awarded 11 guns and 4 cash prizes (15 total). Complete the ticket application form on our web site under the “Make A Payment” tab and mail a check or money order in the correct amount to Perry Township Game Association, P.O. Box 324, Shoemakersville, Pa. 19555. The cost is $5 each or 5 for $20.
21st Women On Target® Clinics
Perry, along with the NRA Women On- Target® program and NRA Foundation will again hold two 21st annual noncompetitive, instructional clinics in recreational shooting and hunting sports this year on June 21st and September 20th. Entries are limited to 32 participants in each event. The courses include instruction in safe firearms handling, hands-on pistol, rifle, shotgun and archery shooting. To register go to the nra.org web site. Click on Firearms Training, Women’s Programs, Women-On Target. Then select your preferred date and register. You must pay the $50 pre-registration fee on our web site. Click on the date in the Events tab and then click on our PayPal account button to pay with credit card.
SHOTGUN USE
There is a patterning stand for shotguns located between traphouses #2 and #3. Please refrain from firing shotgun shot shells at the pistol /rifle range at yardage distances below 25 yards. Shot shell pellets at such short distances quickly deteriorate the target mats requiring more frequent maintenance. Limit shotgun use at the ranges for sighting in slug barrels only.
DISPLAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD
Membership cards must be visibly displayed while you are discharging a firearm. Use the provided clips at the benches, a lanyard or pinned to your shirt or gun case. Mike Mescavage is our official range officer and he checks users frequently. You will be asked to leave the property if you do not have proof of membership or guest pass.
