CLARIFICATION ON USE OF SHOTGUNS AND ASSOCIATED AMMO RESTRICTIONS
The shotgun patterning board is located between trap-houses #2 and #3. The hand trap is located between trap houses #3 and #4. There are new limits/restrictions on shotgun use: You may only use Lead shot pellets at the hand trap and the patterning board or any where in the trap range. No shot shells at the steel target ranges or below 25 yards at the paper target range. Shot shell pellets at short distances quickly deteriorate the target mats requiring more frequent maintenance. Use of slugs permitted at 25 yards or above at the paper target range or the steel target rifle range. Limit shotgun use at the ranges for sighting in slug barrels only. Buck shot, steel shot, dragon breath or any other unusual types of ammunition are prohibited anywhere on the property!! Rifle or pistol use anywhere on the shotgun trap range is strictly prohibited.
TRAPSHOOTING
Perry took 5th place in the 2025 Berks County Amateur Trapshooting league. We won the 2025 Monday Evening League over Lenhartsville that ran May through end of September. The Berks Intervalley League starts at Perry on October 5th. Shooters must post a score at one of the first four shoots to qualify, 10/12/2025 at Shartlesville Fish & Game, 10/19/2025 at Leesport Gun Club or 10/26/2025 at South End Gun Club. We welcome all shooters to compete on our trapshooting team..
DISPLAY YOUR CARD
Your membership card must be visibly displayed while you are using the ranges. Display your membership card on a lanyard or fastened to your gun case or range bag, etc. Michael Mescavage is our Range Officer and he stops by the club randomly to check cards, guest passes and safe firearm handling by all members and guests. Club Officers also check same. Members are also encouraged to check other users cards. You will be asked to leave the ranges if you cannot provide proof of membership. We are being more proactive in this regard due to trespassers and memberships that have lapsed. Our new security camera system is in use.
BOARD SHOOTS
The next Board shoot is on October 12th and the other remaining shoots are November 9th and December 14th. Sign up for each begins at 8:30 a.m. and the shoots start at 9:00 a.m. You are competing for very nice meat trays from Christman’s in Oley. Splatter boards and strip tickets for meat trays are also sold during those events. For every entry sign-up during the year, your name is also entered in a special drawing after the December shoot for a gift card.
WOMEN ON TARGET®
The second of the 21st annual Women On-Target® clinics was held on September 20th at Perry. This program is financially supported by the NRA Foundation. These are non competitive, instructional clinics in recreational shooting and hunting sports for women only. The courses include instruction in safe firearms handling, hands-on pistol, rifle, shot gun and archery shooting. We congratulate the seventeen (17) ladies who completed the course this September. Similar clinics are planned for June 20, 2026 and September 19, 2026. We will post those events for pre-registration sometime during the first quarter of 2026
BIG GAME CONTESTS
The next bear and deer contests end at 8:00 p.m. on 1/27/2026 and 2/24/2026 respectively. Bring your harvests to the club for measurement. All winning awards for all big game contests are increased to $75.
STEEL TARGETS
We have noticed that some members move the steel targets to their liking. However, we caution you that steel targets should not be placed any closer than 20 yards from your shooting position at the pistol range and no closer than 75 yards from the shooting position at the rifle range. There is a much higher chance for blow back and injury at the shorter distances. Also, you should never move in front of the bench areas to fire. Use common sense and safety should always be practiced.
