We are moving to one annual hard copy newsletter instead of two. However, you can find quarterly updated newsletters posted on our web site. View those regularly to stay abreast of all new happenings at the Association.
250 Club To Be Discontinued Next Year
Due to poor ticket sales Perry will discontinue the 250 Club raffles starting in 2023.
85th Anniversary
2022 is Perry’s 85th anniversary year. We were formed during May, 1937. The original clubhouse was a rented building east of Route 61 across from Tom Schaeffer’s Camping and Travel Center. The existing clubhouse and grounds were purchased during 1976 from Winchester. They had build the club as a skeet and trap shooting commercial complex; but their program was not profitable and ultimately they wanted to sell. Perry stepped in and purchased the complex and also purchased additional acreage from Douglas Lesher to start what is the Association today.
NRA Membership Recruiting Program
Perry is a registered recruiter for the NRA. The Association receives a recruiter fee if you join or renew your current membership with the NRA through our club. Log on to our web site or stop by the club for further details. This is a great time to join or renew given the negative liberal news media reports toward the NRA.
Shotgun Patterning
There is a patterning stand for shotguns located between trap-houses #2 and #3. Please refrain from firing shotgun shot shells at the pistol /rifle range yard-ages below 25 yards. Shot shell pellets at such short distances quickly deteriorate the target mats requiring more frequent maintenance. Limit shotgun use at the ranges for sighting in slug barrels only.
Big Game Contests
The 2021-2022 longest turkey beard contest ended June 28th. The next bear and deer contests end at 8:00 p.m. on 1/31/2023 and 2/28/2023 respectively. Bring your Harvests to the club for measurement. All winning awards for all big game contests are increased to $75.
Firearms Training Classes
Please contact Perry’s certified firearms instructor, Nayara Andrejczk, at nandrejczyk@gmail.com or phone 508-847-8813 to schedule your specific training needs
Special NRA Recognition Raffle
Perry recognizes the NRA Foundation for their support of the hunting and shooting sports with a special gun raffle ticket. There are eleven (11) unique guns on the ticket and four tickets are enclosed. They cost $5.00 each, $20 total for all four. Sell 10 of the tickets and receive a free ticket for yourself. The drawing will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. Ticket holders do NOT have to be present to win. We will add additional gun and/or cash prizes if ticket sales are brisk. Last year we held a similar raffle and we awarded a total of 14 guns and 10 cash prizes due to excellent sales results.
Clarification on Range Rules
You must carry with you and display your membership card when using the facilities. Every member has the responsibility to patrol the range and assure that only active members or paid guests are using the facilities and using them safely. Don’t be aggressive when dealing with trespassers; but ask them to pay for a guest pass or membership or leave the grounds.
Let’s be clear that any device that converts a handgun into a rifle type/style with a butt stock or sling is PROHIBITED at the steel target PISTOL range. The steel target pistol range is for hand-held hand-guns only at the shorter distances to those targets. Those convertible types may be used at the paper target range at distances of 25 yards and beyond and at the new STEEL TARGET RIFLE range. Also, SHOTGUN use is prohibited at below 25 yards at all ranges.
Hunter Education
Perry will resume having a Hunter Ed. course this year. Go to the Pa. Game Commission web site to register for our course on Thursday and Friday evenings, August 4th and 5th. Must attend both. Limited to 50 students.
AFTER HOURS SHOOTING AND OTHER VIOLATIONS
We are experiencing people using their car headlights and firing after sunset at the ranges. This is a violation of our regulations. We received complaints from neighbors and the township Supervisors. If caught, member violators will have their membership permanently revoked. Trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are also experiencing shotgun firing at the steel pistol range. This is absolutely prohibited. Just a reminder that it is every members responsibility to patrol the ranges and assure that all shooters are following the range safety rules. Firearms must be pointed down range at all times. If someone is not a member or doesn’t have a guest pass have them sign a guest pass under your name, collect the $10 and drop same in the mail slot at the club house.
MEMBERSHIP
Renewal postcard reminders are mailed approximately 6 weeks before your expiration date. However, it is your responsibility to know your card’s expiration date and pay the $20 renewal fee before expiration in order to avoid the additional $10 re-join fee. We encourage everyone to pay with credit card on-line.
WEB SITE CHANGES
We have changed our payment carrier from PayPal to Woo Commerce. We believe this will make it clearer and easier to pay for new membership, renewals. Guest passes, as well as other available products. You are now able to purchase our raffle tickets on the web site, When you order and pay we will complete the ticket stubs and mail you the remainder of the tickets. We encourage you to visit our web site frequently to stay on top of Association communications.
